Why I’m Sticking to Canadian Travel for Now
There’s no other way to say it — Canada is breathtaking. Not just in one corner, not just in one season, but everywhere, all year round. Each province and territory feels like its own story, stitched together to form a country that surprises you every time you step outside.
On the East Coast, the salt air mixes with the crash of the Atlantic. In Newfoundland, you’ll find rugged cliffs and quiet coves, where the ocean seems endless and wild. Drive through Prince Edward Island and the rolling red-soil fields stretch into the horizon, dotted with farmhouses and fishing villages.
In the Maritimes, you’ll stumble across lighthouses standing tall against dramatic skies — guardians of the sea, each with their own history. And if you’re lucky, you’ll catch the fog rolling into Nova Scotia, wrapping the coastline in something soft and almost magical.
Cross into Quebec, and the landscapes shift. The Laurentians glow with fiery colours in autumn, while Montreal and Quebec City blend European charm with Canadian spirit. Ontario offers its own surprises — the calm of the Muskoka lakes, the power of Niagara Falls, and the sheer scale of the Canadian Shield, carved by ice and time.
Head further west, and the Prairies open up. They may look simple at first — just fields and sky — but spend some time there. Watch the sun set over Saskatchewan, where the horizon stretches so far you feel like you’ve stumbled into forever.
And then, of course, the Rockies. Alberta and British Columbia hold landscapes that feel larger than life. Jagged peaks dusted with snow, turquoise lakes so bright they almost don’t look real, and forests that smell of cedar and pine. From Banff to Yoho to the island rainforests of Vancouver Island, it’s impossible not to feel small in the best way.
The North adds another layer of beauty. Yukon’s midnight sun, Nunavut’s Arctic tundra, the Northern Lights dancing across the sky — these are reminders that nature doesn’t just exist here, it thrives.
Canada’s beauty isn’t just in the postcard views, though. It’s in the quiet moments: spotting a loon on a lake at dawn, sipping coffee on a chilly morning by the coast, or stumbling across wildflowers blooming in a ditch on the side of a highway. It’s vast, it’s varied, and it’s ours.
No matter where you go, Canada has a way of reminding you to slow down, look around, and just breathe it in.
